Soaring Confidence:

George, Steve, Roger and I really appreciated the time spent with you on Saturday, particularly the abundance of weather and running through the gorse, ouch!. It was just what I needed personally to put into practice in a live situation what I thought I already knew but obviously didn't. My confidence soared when we hit the corner of the distant wall which was out of sight until we gained the ridge. It was a real bonus to take in the variety of Dartmoor's mysterious ancient stone relics. We used the compass again on the Sunday to reach the summit of Yes Tor via the
ford of Red-a-ven brook.
For runners with an interest in map and compass
your knowledge of Dartmoor and easy teaching style make a great combination.

Thanks again.
Allan Cheek.

Very Positive Learning Experience:

Paul provided the training which enabled me to gain the National Navigation Award Scheme (Bronze).

I started from a low level of confidence having certainly not been helped by an unfortunate experience with an earlier and less sympathetic trainer.

Paul covered the basics thoroughly and under his expert tutelage, I found my confidence growing rapidly. His empathetic and skilful teaching,
combined with an obvious enthusiasm for the subject made the learning a rich, positive and stimulating experience. Paul is a trained and natural teacher; he possesses both a genuine desire to help people and the necessary skills to facilitate learning: he has excellent interpersonal skills combined with great patience. I found Paul very keen to share his passion for the great outdoors and for navigation. He is a first class choice for anyone (group or individual) who wishes to develop/enhance their skills in navigation.

To sum up, this was a rich learning experience, thoroughly enjoyable and providing exceptional value for money. I commend Paul highly and recommend him without hesitation to anyone seeking a trainer to assist in developing or enhancing existing skills in navigation or hill craft.

'Perfect for us...'

'Thanks very much indeed for a great two days on the moor. You kept a happy balance between challenge, learning and fun. Perfect for us!
It was good to get something more than a gentle stroll and we all feel a lot more confident with using map, compass, and have moved quite a bit from 'how hard can it be common sense' to 'aha so that's how it looks and works' :~}'
